Application Developer - Intermediate Level



The Application Developer analyzes functional requirements followed by design, development, testing, implementation and maintenance of applications, system components, interfaces, extensions, web applications, reports, and forms. Typical deliverables include technical design documents, infrastructure requirements, test plans, program materials, installation documents, reference documents, and support documents. The technical environment includes AIX and Windows operating systems running on top of VMware residing on IBM hardware. The ERP software is Oracle eBusiness integrated with 3rd party routing and optimization software. Anticipated development environments include Oracle, J2EE and Windows, GIS primarily delivering thin-client solutions.



Position: Application Developer - Intermediate level

Reporting to: Manager Application Development

Location: Newmarket, Ontario

Status: Full Time



Position Responsibilities:

§ Participating in the development and enhancement of existing and new NEC core business systems

§ Maintaining software through review and modification of existing code

§ Maintaining vision for product enhancements and providing appropriate recommendations

§ Taking ownership of problems and dealing with them effectively to ensure resolution

§ Liaising with appropriate staff to analyze and debug system failure

§ Participating in peer reviews and knowledge sharing workshops

§ Participating in testing of newly developed software components

§ Developing and/or maintaining operational documentation for new programs as well as modifications to existing programs

§ Performing advanced-level special projects as assigned



Position Requirements:

§ University Degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

§ 4 or more years of specific job experience performing applications development

§ Working knowledge of Oracle 10g database, including SQL, PL/SQL, Forms, and BI Publisher

§ Practical multi-tier application architecture experience

§ Technically fluent in development technologies including C#, VB, Java, J2EE, SQL, PL/SQL, BPEL, BAM, BPM, AJAX, Oralce Fusion, and SOA

§ Development experience with enterprise software (Oracle eBusiness Suite preferred) including development, customization, configuration and integration

§ Development experience with web techniques, including CSS, HTML, Java Script, DOM, HttpRequest, AJAX, JSON, XML, XSLT, and XSD

§ Experience with source code management system

§ Experience with geographic information systems or other spatial data

§ Working knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including Windows and AIX

§ Strong working knowledge of MS Office Tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)

§ Excellent verbal and written communications skills along with strong interpretative skills

§ Proven research, analytical and problem solving skills

§ Keen attention to detail
